What can I do when another person is stealing my pics and using them on their auctions? I am so angry right now. I sent them a message stating they need to remove them and then I also used the neighborhood watch and stated what they were doing. Is there even a Yahoo policy about other people taking other sellers photos? Please any advice would be truly appreciated.

I don't know about Yahoo's policy on this, but it's illegal for someone to be using your photos. Once you take a photograph, you automatically by law hold a copyright to that photo. So no one is allowed to copy it,(let alone use it!) without your permission! I would e-mail the person and advise them of this. Maybe they don't know it's illegal. This would really bother me as well. Don't let them get away with it. Personally I think it's ridiculous that the internet allows you to right click on any photo and download it.

If I think someone may be tempted to seal one of my scans, I add a small line of text to the bottom of the scan saying: "scan by my email address here". Sure, they can try to crop that off, but it will at least make it a little more difficult for them.

It's not that they don't know it's illegal, it's that they just don't care.

Get over it. Its not like you took a work of art and they are gonna make millions off it. They just can't afford a nice digital camera like you and are doing what they can to get a better price on a like item. Yes it would be nice if they emailed you for permission but why wouldnt you let them use it? Do you want money for YOUR picture? Get serious and leave the poor cameraless people alone.

Sorry Stantoine but I don't think it is right to steal someone else's picture. It is one thing if they asked and you said yes. Why should they benefit from your time and good pic? It just doesn't seem right. Melanie

Cameraless or not they have no right to steal anyones pics. I started with no camera and saved my pennys to buy my own. Never did I steal someone elses pictures. Its just downright cheap and tacky.

No, it is not a work of art, but I to saved up my pennies to buy a cheap digital camera at that and never used any ones elses pics.
It is also wrong because the item they are showing that they are selling is not the EXACT one up for sale. It would be FALSE presentation. There item could be damaged or something, which was the case with this person. They closed their auction and took their own pic and the item they had I could tell from the pic had a crease in the item and it would make it not worth buying or worth less money.
Thanks for all the responses from everyone.

While I don't believe it is "right" for anyone to steal pics, it is just one of those realities of e-commerce. Be flattered! It's really a left- handed compliment to your photographic abilities! And please don't waste too much energy worrying about it. You're really sweating the small stuff, girl.

I had a boyfriend once who's motto was, "Don't sweat the small stuff".
That motto had to be written Just For HIM!
Please disregard this post. (blush)
