Please can any body tell me how to get good results on yahoo, rather than no results at all? Everytime I have placed an item on yahoo-no bids? And what is first bidder wins? Anybody?

It's hard to define in a few sentences. I tried to find a listing of yours but there werent any. It might have to do with you being new. It might have to do with what you're selling and what you're asking. Sometimes it's in the presentation. Next time you list something, email me at Yahoo and I'll take a look and see if I can suggest anything.

There are some things that work in any auction.
Good item that has demand;if there are too many of the same item out there, you may be in for quite a wait.
Clear description with basic information.
Reasonable starting bid for the item--people want to save money.
Reasonable shipping cost and state it up front.
Reliability of seller;if you have no feedback, buy something to get feedback to give you some credibility. I point to my feedback on eBay as I am new.
First bid win means that you close the auction for the opening bid price. Use the buy price option to close the auction at the opening bid price. Works like a classified ad in practice.
Patience is necessary on Yahoo and any other site.

vagc - Do you only place one item at a time? How many times do you relist it? I've noticed that it takes longer to build the momentum you want on Yahoo! but it is easier to maintain. My bidders have been very loyal and nearly all of them come back for more but it did take a while to find them.
You'll have much better luck if you list several items (more chances to find you) and keep at it. It's free so click on the auto relist button!! Pay attention to your ad. There are a lot of crappy ads on Yahoo! that don't have picture or look like a 5yo put them together.
What types of items are you trying to sell? Have you researched the Yahoo! market for them. This is harder to do, especially with the "1st bid wins" trend but still needs to be done. Definately use the buy price unless it is a hard to find treasure.
I also think the title is more important at Yahoo than at other sites. Their search engine leaves much to be desired so don't rely on it finding words in the ad that aren't in the title. The title search is much more reliable (well, sorta ).
Hmmmm, that's all off the top of my head other than the usual good business practices. Patience and persistance!

are your pictures clear, maybe a far away shot and a closeup shot? are they items that you might have noticed others having success with? have you gauged the market place? you can use universal search and check to see what the others are doing. it is always good in Rome to do as the Romans do! Good luck and stick to it, you just have to find out what they like and what you want to sell. sports stuff, kid clothing, tools or whatnots. good luck.
