I have been critical in the past of the extremely poor construction of Yahoo's classification "tree". The worst case is Books.

I think most people who have ever entered a book store would agree Yahoo's book tree was written by a moron. I list a lot of books and if I listed them in the book classification, 95 % would wind up in "other". Rather than do that I list them in non-book categories related to the topic. For example a book on cars would go somewhere in the automotive section.

So I was taken by suprise when I had 30 videotapes close when they should have been automatically relisted the other day. I was forced to spend most of my summer converting to their bulk loader system after they shortened both the duration of the auctions and the times to relist. What happened was 100 auctions from one list automatically relisted while the 30 videotapes in that same list closed. Of course this means a lot more work for me figuring out how long to relist them individually to expire when the rest of the items in that bulk load expire, so I can bulk load them again when the time comes. or I can wait a couple weeks with no listings for them until it's time to bulk load those items again.

The reason all this happened is because they changed the videotape category tree. Now you would think I would support this, but if you look at what they changed, you may see what I mean when I say a moron is in charge over there.

My tapes were all in this category:

Auctions > Arts & Entertainment > Movies > Video Tapes > Science Fiction & Fantasy.

Now that was one of the few trees that I liked. If they wanted to seperate Science Fiction from Fantasy, that would have been fine, but look at the new subcategories:

Auctions in Science Fiction & Fantasy :

3-D
Aliens
Altered Psyche
Animation
Artificial Life Forms
Collections
Computer Intelligence
Disaster
Dystopian
Futuristic Games
Futuristic Worlds
Killers
Lost Worlds
Mad Scientists
Monsters
Parallel Universes and Dimensions
Post-Apocalyptic
Prisons
Romance
Space Battles and Rescues
Space Exploration
Space Stations and Outposts
Spoofs
Superheroes
Time Travel
Underwater
Virtual Realities
Other

---------

Good grief, I have no idea where to put most of my tapes, so I just stick them in "other".

Like I've been saying, this site is in the hands of fools. They should have caught up with ePay by now but instead are just treading water.

This Disaster is most likely the result of an Animated Alien Artificial Life Form from Parallel Universes and Dimensions playing Dystopian Futuristic Games in order to Kill off interest.
Well the category tree is never going to satisfy everyone so I perhaps their Mad Scientists want to be sure to satisfy no one.
