I just listed two items on Yahoo, and the pictures of the items show up, but the image/link to PayPal shows as a broken image. The link is there and active, it just looks bad. Ever experience this, and what can I do to fix it?

Never had that problem. Your Yahoo listings are NOT under the seller name communicatrix, so we can't look at your listings to see what the problem is you're describing.

Duh! Sorry, they are under ispbob. Thanks for taking the time to check! BTW, I did the auctions in Auctionwatch and launched them. Maybe this wasn't the best idea? They work fine on eBay. This was my first crack at Yahoo.

I've never launched a Yahoo ad through AW. I used to let Paypal auto-insert daily to my listings but now I just keep a edit/copy of the HTML commands for my Paypal logo & paste it right into every descrip. as I write them. Sorry, I don't know how AW inserts it or why the link is broken.

Did you notice that if you click "show only photos" under your seller page it returns a msg "no listings with thumbnails". They are not in the gallery because you used a photo host. People who shop by photo only (and there are alot, especially clothing shoppers) wouldn't ever see your ads. That's another reason it's best to use Yahoos submit item page and upload photos direct. (The images, not commands or links to them). Since you only have 2 ads my advice would be to cancel them & start over in Yahoo. Then you can have PP auto insert or just go to PP and copy the command into your descrip so it appears at the time same time you click submit listing.

I had the same problem so won't use it again. I get a broken image but it is clickable to Papal anyway.
here, try this-- (take out the *) and save it in drafts in your email program..I simply keep that draft open and slam it on bottom of my auctions -- it is text only.

CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS ARE ACCEPTED THROUGH
<**A HREF=http://www.paypal.com
TARGET=new>PayPal</A**><BR>
<P> </B>

Hope this works for ya!

ioughta,

The only problem with using that PayPal HTML is that it doesn't include his REFERRAL account address to receive referral bonuses for signing up new PayPal members.

Like kasmoon, I submit listings directly into Yahoo, and I write the HTML for MY INDIVIDUAL PAYPAL LINK in the description box on my listings (I save it with the TOS in my email box, and just copy and paste). That way, I receive the $5 bonus for any new PayPal member who registers by clicking on the logo on my listing.

Some sellers don't think the thumbnail photo under "show photos only" viewing is important for a listing, but I do. I think the photo "gallery" is used more on Yahoo than it is on ebay. Uploading your first photo is a little more TROUBLE than just writing the HTML link for it, but since it's FREE and may bring more bidders to your listing, why not do it?

Thanks, all. Live and learn...I think you're right, I should just do the Yahoo auctions manually from Yahoo itself. I have no problem doing my own html. Thanks for your advice. Now, here's one more question...when filling out the auction form, I said "no" to being able to cancel the auction (I seem to recall something to that effect.) Can I cancel it and start again anyway, or should I just wait until this auction ends, then relist it?

You can Cancel anytime so long as you don't have a bidder. What you said no to was different, early close. You can close early with bidders. Just click "manage auction" to cancel.

Thanks, kasmoon, you're right again. I cancelled the auctions, then submitted it again manually through Yahoo; same thing happened. I had copied and pasted the html text for linking the PayPal banner (the text came from PayPal itself), still have the broken image with the working link. Cancelled again, manually submitted again, this time telling PayPal to automatically insert my banner. Nope, still no go. Naturally my question to Yahoo support remains unanswered. Maybe I'll just submit the auction with the broken link (UGLY!!) and see what happens. Maybe I'll get lucky. Thanks, all.
