I got one of those emails from Yahoo saying that a potential bidder had asked a question about one of my auctions that only has a couple more days to run. The email said I had to login to Yahoo auctions and then go to an URL they gave me where I'd be able to respond to the question.

I did all that and the page said that no-one had asked any questions, therefore I had no way of responding!! If I don't respond at all the bidder is likely to get very pissed and not bother bidding at all!!

Unlike Ebay there doesn't seem to be any other way of contacting the bidder, i.e. by email.

This is making me look very unprofessional and I'm really quite annoyed. I've emailed customer services, but with it being the weekend by the time I get a response the auction is likely to be over.

What really freaks me is that the seller was asking about shipping costs to the USA (I live in the UK) and if he had bothered to read the auction he would have seen that it quite clearly states the shipping costs for US bidders!!!

Any suggestions before I smash something??

I did the respond thing about 30 minutes ago with one of my listings. It always confuses me.

I opened my listing, clicked on the "Ask the seller a question" link and the question together with a box for the reply came up.
Answer and submit.

I stumbeled on this solution and never have been able to understand and follow what the email says.

Thanks for the prompt reply!!

I just tried what you suggested and it didn't work. If I'm logged in to Yahoo, it knows that I'm the seller and clicking on 'ask the seller a question' does nothing. If I try logging out and repeating the process, then it brings up the box to ask the question but not the box for the reply.

I've looked at the URL on my auctions and it is www.yahoo.com/uk. I think the UK site is buggy because whenever I try and import my Yahoo auctions to Auction Manager here at Auctionwatch, the status always remains at 'updating' for the duration of the auction!! That's the only explanation I can think of.

I think I will go and smash something. Preferably expensive.

I used to put Do NOt ASK QUESTION ON LISTING only to my email [email protected] Sometimes they do and that way you get their email and can respond privately.

fallen_madonna,

Sometimes the question & answer software doesn't work. Sign into Yahoo under your seller's account, go to that listing, click "Manage This Auction", click "Edit Auction Description", and write that you have been unable to answer questions asked, that they should write you at XXXXXXXXXX email address with any questions pertaining to this auction. If the person looks at the listing again (and fails once AGAIN to see how much shipping will be), maybe he'll see your email address to send his questions to.

If your auction ends without a bidder, just relist and he can bid on it the second time around.
