I'm not new to selling, but I'm new to Yahoo auctions.. driven to consider it, like many others, due to the eBay unreliability issues.
I've registered and signed up to have access to the adult areas as I planned on selling some adult videos and wanted to check out prices, but from what I can see so far, searching the adult categories gets no results.
Do they have the same thing as eBay, a search box that doesn't work in the adult areas?? I'd hoped Yahoo would be better in this regard.

Yahoo Auction search EXCLUDES adult category listings, and I don't believe there's a search function for that category alone. If you're signed in on Yahoo under an adult/credit card verified account, you can pull up the adult listings of SELLERS who have adult listings by putting their user names in the "ID search" box, but you can't pull up items by keyword. You'll have to go through the category listing pages in the adult section.

Here's a workaround- use the Auctionwatch Universal search. I searched the keywords in my Yahoo auctions and they all turned up on AW's Universal search.

True. As a buyer of adult items, I use the AuctionWatch Universal Search to perform all searches, and it picks up items in the adult restricted areas of both Yahoo and eBay.
Sad but true story. When I first joined Yahoo, I noticed that the search did not work in the adult area, but nothing in the help menus stated so. When I emailed support asking if it was supposed to be this way, the response indicated that there might be something wrong with my account. Person did not even know Yahoo's policy. I like many things about Yahoo auction, but their support is already 0 for 2 in answering my questions correctly.
Another beef I have about the search restriction on both eBay and Yahoo is that it actually penalizes the sellers who correctly categorize their items in the adult category. Meanwhile, other sellers are listing adult products in the normal categories and getting the benefit of having their listings show up in searches. Both auctions told me that they will move or cancel these listings on an individual basis if they are reported, but they do not actively police the problem. Sorry, I just don't have time to report the dozens and even hundreds of current adult mags listed in the pre-1980 Playboy section.
By the way, who decided that a 1979 Playboy was an artistic collectible, while a 1981 Playboy is pornographic smut?

Thanks you guys for pointing out that AW's universal search does locate these items. That is great to know! I LOVE AW's universal search already. I've told all my recent ebay customers about it in hopes that they'll use it & find the items they want from sellers who list at Yahoo (including me)...Now if only there were a way to "universal search" completed items...
