This is interesting and seems a positive change. While I wasn't clear from reading the summary how relists will count, it has to help in the problems of sellers posting a large number of high priced items, flooding the categories with duplicate listings and other ways they abuse the free listing opportunity.

Few of us will be impacted by the initial limit and that restriction will quickly expand as our sales and positive feedback grow.

Seems like a step to support the smaller sellers who are offering competative prices and good service.

Quite a nice change from that other venue with their constant partnering with Disney et al, increasing fees and for fee service being shoved down our throat, not to mention poor site performance.

Starting to feel like the old eBay before concepts like fair, honest and helpful were lost to the stress of corporate expansion.

I like it too. I also like that it was announced before implemented. These days that's amazing.

They very much do seem on the side of the little guy and as if the are trying to help the seller which is nice. I find myself listing more and more on Yahoo then Ebay and Yahoo is so much less stressful! and still profitable

Gawd! I just do this as a hobby. I can't imagine listing 1,000 items, much less, more than 1,000! I have trouble keeping up with the less-than-500 I'm working on.

I could image going over 1,000. Depends on how they do it I have about 500 items up now. Depending how one relists and if they count relist 1,000 items in a month listed could be reacher quite quickly. I like what they are doing though.

Very Modern: I clicked on your link to view the seller rewards on Yahoo, then clicked on auctions home and it gave me a Welcome Coach xxxxxx. Are you by any chance from Guymon? I have family that lives there. Just curious.

That's OK, my sister's last name is Behne and that was the logged in name that appeared when going to the site. It was quite interesting.

VeryModern,

How did you hear about this? Did they send you an email?

The announcement is pretty vague about several points, including whether relists count as a listing, and just how much the number of successful sales and positive feedback will IMPACT a seller's "limit".

1,000 listings a month is EASY to achieve, even for a small seller, IF all the auctions you close and resubmit with corrections are included, and IF resubmissions of unsuccessful auctions are included (especially for sellers who like to put on very short 2 or 3 day featured auctions). I wonder if sellers will be allowed 1,000 item LISTING NUMBERS per month, or 1,000 actual auctions (even counting something you closed to correct an error 5 minutes after submitting).

It seems to be an attempt to control sellers who "spam" on Yahoo with multiple identical auctions (a big problem I'd say, from a few recent searches I've done), and to discourage all those who list new merchandise with full retail opening bids (also very common).

I hope it DOES put the brakes on listing abusers, but I'm afraid it might just encourage more sellers to get around the rule by listing under multiple identities.

I wonder if ebay's outages almost every day recently brought too many sellers to Yahoo all at once, like Gold's Auction experienced a year ago????????????

wyo50 - that's bizarre, it sounds like somehow you were logged into another person's acct. because it is a generic page I linked.

granee - a pal sent the link and she must have just run across it. I have not heard or read of anyone being emailed.

Actually, I saw this posted yesterday at Yahoo, right on the main page of the Yahoo Auctions. It is on the right side of the screen with Rebate Program and Seller Rewards Program.

For those interested, this is also being discussed a great deal at the "sellers zone" in Yahoo clubs.

traceyg - thesellerzone is a Yahoo Club. Click clubs then search "seller zone", or it may be "sellerzone" or "thesellerzone" if you have trouble. You can lurk and read, or join and post.

Now I see the "Seller Performance Rewards", "Rebate Program", and "Closed Auction Search" announcements on Yahoo Auction's home page (http://list.auctions.yahoo.com/) under "What's New", as well as info about Yahoo! PayDirect. I wonder if Yahoo has been paying attention to user requests for an announcements board, and decided the home page is the place to put it???

The more I think about limiting listings and allowing more to those who sell more, the more I like the idea. Maybe it will keep sellers like Thai--- from flooding Yahoo with 6,000 ongoing auctions!!!

This is the link for the Yahoo Sellers' Club:

I wonder if this 1000 auction limit is going to affect people who normally keep 150+ listings running at all times. We relist a lot of items and keep relisting till they sell.

On the positive side I have noticed sales are picking up a bit lately and I really like the option of featuring items for 10 cents per day.

Seems like Yahoo is making some positive changes lately.

Second hand information suggests that the 1000 listing limit will be automatically increased as you have sales and to reflect growth of positive feedback.

I'm not clear how much it will be increased but I expect it will be much more than the actual number of sales.

I believe the purpose is to limit people that use the free listing as advertising without any serious intention of actually making sales.

Those that make sales and have positive feedback will find no pratical limit after a brief introduction phase of this program.
