I have a few auctions that closed over 3 weeks ago, no response from winner, and a few that have said payment is in the mail, my questions are 1)how long do you wait on payment? 2)How long do you wait on reply to winning email before you relist? 3)And if bidder does not pay do you always leave neg. feedback or just blacklist them and relist?

Do you have guidelines in your notification of winning bid email? I do, but still have many who exceed the 10 day deadline, and I do not neg them if they stay in contact and the money comes.

I do believe that you/we have an obligation to leave the neg. feedback when a problem bidder is identified.

I note their FB rating on the day of the win. My EOA states payment due in 10 days. If it's not here by 12 I recheck their FB. If they are a prankster they usually have negs by then so I cancel them, neg, blacklist & relist without writing them again.

If they have no new negs I send an email which says "If you do not contact me within 48 hours I must cancel your bid and relist/sell to next bidder. The rules also require me to enter a negative rating for failure to complete the transaction." That usually generates quick responses but if not I cancel-neg-relist-blacklist.

I state simply in the neg "did not respond to emails or pay". No one has ever entered a response to their neg or negged me back.

For a new buyer, email after ten days and ask if they sent payment. If no response by the next day, email again and say auction is now void. Yahoo has chronic problems with non-payers. I had eight deadbeats this month all from new bidders. Don't discredit all new bidders though some will turn out alright.

If the buyer has under 5 feedback, allow a few more days before the second contact.

Definitely leave negative feedback. It helps sellers greatly in identifying a deadbeat before they go through more hassle.

I expect promptness simply as the basis in which bidders can get their stuff right away. I do not know anyone who cannot understand that principle.

I wait at least 10 days to neg - but no contact and no payment in that time frame, I neg and move on.

I am careful not to inflame or incite - "buyer did not complete transaction" is typical. It is all that needs to be said for another seller looking, and I have left at least 30-40 negs and have none in return so far (I know - I am amazed myself).

You might want to blacklist before doing anything else in case they start bidding just to annoy you.

I had a buyer one time win three of my auctions on the same ending date. He was extremely late in paying for the items, by 19 days. I expect payment "within ten days of auctions close", as my auctions state. Of course, I am flexible, if there is a reason for it. This person took 29 days to pay. I honored the sales, but posted only 'good's as feedback, (as I was not happy wih the transaction), but it was completed.

However, I did blacklist this chronic 'late payer'. Well, he then later tried to bid on one of my other auctions, and of course, couldn't. He then went in and changed the three positives he gave me on the previous purchases to 'bad's? This is the type of procrastinator that blames others for his slow reponse to make payment(s). I simple 'responded' to my file: "These were completed transactions, and rated justly. Payments, however, were late. I simply choose not to accept future bids".

The end result, the buyer changed my ratings back to 'good', instead of 'excellent'. But at least he removed the negs. How you respond, is just as important as what really happened. Calm, to the point. Is better than insulting, arguing, and name calling, every time.
