I would like to hear from anyone who uses the function that enables a seller to accept bids only from folks who are verified, with a credit card.
I imagine it would provide some relief if you have a problem with deadbeats...but what about your sales/# of bids? Did it hurt or help?

Sorry to say it doesn't help in the least. They could still bid & deadbeat like any other user. Yahoo is not going to give you their info because of privacy guidelines so there is still nothing you could do if they don't pay. There are alot of honest people who fear entering a CC # on the net so they would just move on to another ad. For the short time I tried that option they told me so in auction Q&A. Some also said they wanted to bid but didn't own a CC. It actually does hurt more than it helps.

Even with Yahoo! PayDirect and PayPal available to the buyers for quick, free payment using their CCs, debit cards, or bank transfers, I STILL have a lot of people send me money orders and personal checks (though I don't state in my terms that I even accept checks).
Some people don't HAVE credit cards (one of my sisters doesn't--her husband tore them up years ago and makes her write checks), while others just don't trust the internet to be safe enough from hackers for them to put their account numbers online anywhere. THESE people are the bidders you'll lose if you require all your bidders to register a CC number with Yahoo.

It doesnt help and it only hurts. Good bidders who dont like to use CC cant bid. Bad bidders keep bidding. All Y! does is force them to enter a CC number. It doesnt have to be their number, no verification is done. So what is the point? I like it better when you set the rating to 1 and anyone with 0 or less could not bid at all.
