Look at the new MINIMUM BIDDER RATING choices when creating a new auction. Since all must be credit card verified now, the #'s don't mean the same thing.

I used to use +2 which meant the bidder must have EITHER a +2 rating OR a credit card verification. That would mean a new user with no rating who was CC verified could bid, and I got a lot of that.

What it means now is that a bidder must not only be credit card verified but must have a +2 rating. So not only have i lost my non-credit card buyers, but I've lost all the newbies as well. No wonder I had but 2 sales today.

Not only that but with automatic relists, it looks like it will be a long time before i can change this rating, unless I wanted to do it an auction at a time (which I don't).

Yahoo may have a bulk loader but they don't have and what they need is a bulk unloader. Seriously. What id something happens to somebody with 1500 auctions...what if he need to shut down his auctions.,..or make changes to all of them (like add a new phrase....to pass along Paypal charges). there is no way to do it on a volume basis.

And nobody is going to shut down 1500 auctions 1 at a time.

LOL! A bulk UN-loader! That's funny! I really wished I had one of those when Yahoo rolled out PAyDirect. I waited till one by one my auctions ended & then changed all of them one by one before re-listing. I did the same thing all over again last month when I clarified my international terms of sale.

More to the point would be an easy way to re-submit a whole stack of auctions at once. I'd love that.

Not to sound like a cheerleader, but you have to admit that getting 1500 free listings is pretty cool !

Save the irritation for when they really try to stiff ya!

It's not really 'free'. I spent 150 hours converting my auctions to the bulk loader format only to have them ruined time and time again by changes to the system. I spent another 300 hours creating 1500 listings. Now most are idle while the ones running are inaccessable to many of my regular customers and all the newbies as well.

Like the Television networks, Yahoo doesn't charge a monthly fee or a pay-per-view. They sell advertising.

So many sellers here think they are getting something for nothing and never have any voice. They must feel like guests at the Salvation Army Soup kitchen.

point taken. I don't mean to suggest that don't have a legimate reason to be upset, I just think that Yahoo isn't the worst offender by a long sight.

However, if it sounded like I /was / cheerleading, I apologize. There are way too many of those running around out there,
although they are good for laughs once you get by the nausea.

I'm one of those newbies on yahoo that has just finished a few transactions (I believe I have made 8 sellers happy.) Anyways, to the point, when I checked my watchlist this eve and saw that I had to now put in my visa # to bid I was turned off. I am also new to computers and the internet and am still "worried" about that. Don't laugh there are many of us out there. I don't think this is a good idea...

dedeweedie,

Yahoo doesn't verify CC numbers when you register to bid, so you can put fake ones on there if you don't want to use your real ones. To sign up for Yahoo! PayDirect, though, you'll have to use your REAL Visa numbers...but the process is under a secure server, very hacker-proof.

On the auctions you're interested in bidding on, you can write the seller (through "question and answer" or email if it's listed) and tell him you want to pay XXX amount, but that you can't bid because you don't want to post your CC numbers. I'm placing a note in my auctions for those who don't have CCs to email me if they want to buy but can't bid, and I think other sellers will do the same.

On behalf of your 8 sellers today, thanks for bidding!!!!!!!!

Thanx for the reply, I will go back into yahoo and enter a fake one. (Though it makes me wonder why they would even bother since thats the case.) Sounds like a "nobrainer" to me. As far as paypal goes, well I am Canadian and when I looked into that I was told it is avail only to US residents at this time. Thanx again....I am off to bid..

Paypal claimed yesterday when they made me "upgrade" to a commercial account, that they would be available in 15 countries 9or was it 25?) within a month.

All these changes that are hurting me are worded like they were serving eggs benedict delivered to my door step. Like those phoney Yahoobots reducing my auctions from 1800 to 333 and calling it "Seller Performance Rewards." Is that all they teach these kids in school...how to lie and decieve? Such crap does not go unnoticed nor is easily forgotten.

granee: I dont believe you can use a fake CC number. It has to be real. It just doesnt have to be yours and it can even be an expired account. There is a hashing algorythm used to make sure the number is valid and I think Yahoo accepts anything that matches that rule.

Maybe I am missing something! I have a Paypal account and I was not forced to upgrade to a business account! I wonder what the criteria is that is used to be "forced" upgrade??? Am I next?

I recently tired an expired card of my own and it was rejected...in fact, it even said why....pretty slick for a yahoobot.

Maybe yahoo finally fixed it. An expired card worked approximately a week ago.

You can still use any valid CC whatsoever, so long as it hasn't been used before for the purpose od signing up.
