I listed some auctions last night and was curious about the minimum rating setting now that they require a credit card from everyone. What I found interesting is that the lowest you can set it to is -1. Does this mean that no one with less than -1 can bid on anything?

That would be right setting -1 mean any one with less then 0 cant bid with out credit card verfication.
this whole rateing system is invalid if they continue with all buyer must have credit card number verifide to bid.
the rateing has not so much to do with feed back numbers as it does with credit cards.
best way to open up to all bidders is to set this at 0 when you set higher or lower then this you start to limit who can bid if you set -1 you could be haveing buyer with 1000 postives and one neg from bidding.
the feed back numbers dont work quite the same on yahoo as ebay you lose 2 positive for every one negitive feed back and you lose a positive feed back for every sales you cancel before it ends rather then close early I learned this the hard way.
I never use to use the allow to close early feature and one time messed up a bunch of listing had to cancel sales I lost 30 postive feed back numbers the commets were still there but not listed in my numbers in my booth so now instead of seeing the near individual 60 rateing I should have buyers see only 27 today.

That's what it use to mean. Now that they require credit cards, if you set this, it completely prevents anyone with a rating lower than that to bid, credit card or not. The point I'm making is that since -1 is the lowest it can be set to (and it must be set to something, you can't leave it blank) that completely prevents anyone with a rating lower than -1 from bidding on anything, credit card or not!

Well that is one good thing about this new change then. Chronic deadbeats will not be able to play their nasty games for very long.
They'll eventually run out of credit cards to register new ID's under, and if their feedback becomes negative under the ID's they have, they won't be able to bid any more.
It is essential for us all to neg our deadbeats, whether we like it or not.

That's a good point there dman3. With all buyers now required to provide a cc for verification, why even bother with the minimum rating....

comic123,
Why bother?
Because a person could have 500 positives, and 499 negatives, and show as a +1, that's why. Would you sell to a person with 500 negatives? I wouldn't.
You have to remember the actual rating, as to how it applies to negatives canceling positives, and vice-versa.
dman3,
>>>"best way to open up to all bidders is to set this at 0 when you set higher or lower then this you start to limit who can bid if you set -1 you could be haveing buyer with 1000 postives and one neg from bidding."<<<
Where do you get this from? The setting you choose goes by RATING, not if you ever got a neg before. The person above would have a +999. You need to understand how things really work before making such comments that make no sense.

The 'close auction early' option does NOT affect your feedback rating. Where did you get this idea from? Are you on Yahoo, or where are you? These comments you are making, make no sense?. Either that, or you need to REALLY clarify what you are trying to say.
