I am considering signing up with Yahoo Pay Direct. Is it worth it? How is the customer service if there's a problem? If it's as bad as getting help with featured auctions I probably won't sign up. I'm really hoping to find ways to get bidders on my auctions just like everyone else. I'm already using "First Bid Wins" on many of my auctions. Does anyone know if shipping priority verses standard mail makes any difference?

All opinions very welcome!

Thanks.

I don't use PayDirect. I use PayPal. But I do ship all of my sales by Priority mail with DC, (delivery confirmation). It gives me proof of delivery. I use PayPal, and am a verified member. Therefore PayPal guarantees the purchase as a result. It has helped me with increased sales. Hope this helps you in some little way. Welcome to Yahoo! Auctions, hope yopu enjoy it here. CharlieOne

Should you sign up for PayDirect - Of Course!

It is free and you get the neatest PayDirect symbol next to your auctions! Eventually, more and more folks will want to use it, and it is good to be flexible in accepting funds. In other words, the more ways you accept funds, the more bidders will be comfortable with you and bid on your things.

Are there problems??? Of course, but none that I've seen that would cause me to not use PayDirect. You may read about some of these in other threads on Auction Watch.

To me, but not everyone, Paydirect was hard to understand, but once someone actually paid me thru PayDirect, you bet I figured out how to accept funds and transfer them either to my bank account or credit card. I would have preferred this process be more like PayPal or Amazon 1-click, but when you get something free, we learn to adjust.

Paydirect is marvelous. I have had no problems using it at all.

PayDirect is fantastic!!!!
It is easy to use as a seller- the one glitch I experienced, a common one, involved a customer sending payment to the wrong email address. Through that glitch I learned that customer assistance is readily available. Auctionee (I believe) posted the phone number for customer assistance in another thread here at AW, if you ever need it. Also when they send your snailmail verification they enclose the phone # & email address. I was able to get a real live rep on the phone to help me.

As far as priority mail goes, it sorta depends on the weight of the item you're selling. If you sell postcards priority mail will seem expensive to your customers, but if you sell heavy stuff like dinnerware, priority is a bargain for you- you get free boxes & priority only costs about a nickel more than standard mail does. Also you can only used delivery confirmation with priority mail, so if you want that service priority is a necessity. If you sell books, it's nice to give your customers a choice between book rate & priority mail. Book rate is a lot less expensive but much slower also.

ws1987 I signed up with PayDirect to get the extra little icon before the whole PayPal thing hit the fan. It was very easy and I have had a couple of payments through PayDirect and they went very smoothly.

As CAgrrrl said, you get the customer service number and e-mail with your snail mail confirmation and of course, many of us have it if you lose the thing. I haven't had to call customer service, so I can't say if they are good or not.

As for shipping, I ship books by book rate. Book buyers seem to prefer that.

I ship everything else by priority mail until it gets to a high weight and then I offer either parcel mail or priority. I find my customers are most happy getting their items faster. I know I am when I win something!

I don't ship UPS because the only place for us to ship in our town is a local drug store where the folks are not very nice, are VERY SLOW and tack on an extra $5 pickup fee, so it isn't very cost effective for me personally. They also seem to handle the packages more roughly than priority mail is handled.

Welcome and good luck!

I use both paypal and paydirect although I am phasing paypal out to many hassles. Actually, I use paypal very little at all amy more and will be closing my account after many months of use this weekend. I have had it with paypal. I think Paydirect runs a lot smoothier and a lot quicker to get your money. Now that it is starting to catch on my customers seem to prefer it to over Paypal, since most already have a Yahoo Wallet and it kind of keeps things all together for them. I had about 11-12 people pay via Paydirect for my ebay auctions also this weekend so it can be used at both places. As a user of both I prefer Paydirect especially for Yahoo auctions. Also Paydirect doesn't allow chargebacks like Paypal. That gives me control over whether a customer gets his money back or not if she or he is unhappy or claims he didn't get the item. Although I have never had a problem and I have a lot of postive feedback about 280 and no negative you never know what is going to happen. If you read the small print in the agreements paydirect is the better one for the seller.
