PayPal will have a directory for those with Business Accounts, for listing your web site and/or auction links: Just in this morning from PayPal:

Dear PayPal User,

According to X.com© there are over 250,000 businesses and 4 million users that currently accept PayPal© as a secure online payment method. Since your business falls into this category, we would like to extend the opportunity to be included in a new and exciting marketing opportunity

PayPalShops.Com will act as a directory for "verified" businesses that accept PayPal© as a payment method. We are currently accepting applications for a FREE listing with our website. We will be launching PayPalShops.Com live on Monday October 16th, and will be providing FREE listings to our first 1,000 businesses/users until December 1, 2000. We hope to attract a large number of businesses; as such a forum will be a great place for X.com's© 4 million consumers to see exactly where they can use their PayPal account for online purchases.

With the Holiday Season approaching quickly, PayPal Shops.Com will be the first directory dedicated to providing X.com's© 4 millions users with lists of merchants that accept PayPal©. If you would like to be included in the initial directory of these featured companies listed with PayPalShops.Com, please go to
http://www.paypalshops.com/signup
or feel free to email us at [email protected] with any additional questions that you may have regarding this exciting and free marketing opportunity.

I hope you noticed that only the first 1000 who sign up will be listed for FREE, and those will only be free until December 1, just 7 weeks from now. After that, it's just another way to take your money.

Maybe I've become cynical, but it seems pretty transparent to me. Don't want to burst anyone's balloon........
