LETTER THIS MORNING FROM PAYPAL TO BUSINESS CUSTOMERS:
10/19/2000

Dear PayPal Member,

Thank you for making PayPal the number one payment system on the web.

In less than a year, we've grown to 4 million users who appreciate our lightning-fast and safe method of payment. Buyers request Paypal far more often than any other payment service.

PayPal's Premier/Business account is still cheaper than Billpoint's lowest fee account. In addition, PayPal always lets you transfer money to your bank account for free. PayPal's auto-sweep feature is optional.

PayPal also stands alone by offering these great features:

Payment received into your account instantly.
No complicated forms for buyer and seller to fill out.
24/7 telephone access to our 350 customer service representatives.
Buyer Protection Policy -- which brings you new customers by reducing risk for buyers.
Seller Protection Policy -- which limits your charge-back liability.
$5 referral bonuses for new (verified) customers.
Inbox and downloadable history to help you process orders.
Accept payments on your website with Web Accept.
And Coming Soon:

By October 31: International Payments!
Earn money market rates of return on your PayPal balances.
Get your money out of ATM machines at any time with PayPal's new debit card! (see below).
Shopping cart (in the meantime, check out BizBlast's PayPal-enabled shopping cart).
Integration into Quickbooks, thanks to our exclusive deal with Intuit.
Free listing day from PayPal and GoTo Auctions on November 2. Get your insertion fees refunded to your PayPal account!
With 4 million customers who can easily and quickly purchase from you on eBay, or elsewhere, you're in very good company!

Thanks again for choosing PayPal.

Sincerely,
PayPal Auction Team

p.s. Here's a sneak peak at our new debit card, coming soon:

With PayPal's debit card, funds in your account are immediately available for you to spend anywhere!

They have not learned a thing.
They forgot the "fees to follow" bit.

I received one of those this morning as well.

I offer BidPay and EnergyFlow for my international customers. EnergyFlow alos accepts ALL major credit cards.

As you know by now, PP already took money out of my checking account without authorization which took me 3 1/2 months and a lot of back and forth with PP to get back. No thanks! Really!

With the incidence of international CC fraud, I am afraid my account would be locked for the rest of my days since they don't seem to be able to tell the difference between the amount that is in dispute and the entire balance in someone's PP account while allowing further funds to accumulate.

Amazing labbie, but as always, some people think it won't happen to them.

btw - my money going from paydirect to the new bank in 2 days and I am just chompin' on my bit to get a bill to pay..! All set up and loaded in the chute and no where to pay. I am considering Paying MYSELF just to see how it goes.

24/7 telephone access to our 350 customer service representatives.

Seller Protection Policy -- which limits your charge-back liability

$5 referral bonuses for new (verified) customers

Hahahah stop it hohoho I can't take anymore...

Thanks for posting that, jwpc. I didn't receive that entertaining email because I've closed my account.

Don't miss 'em, don't need 'em, and the occasional customer who still requests to use them are clueless about what's going on with them. When I tell them, they're horrified, just as we are.

One thing I wonder about, though-- is paypal really that stupid or do they think we are????

fountainhouse Oh come on now! We all know that "Seller Protection Policy -- which limits your charge-back liability " is true! It is limited to the amount in your account at the time that they decide to freeze it plus all future payments that are made to that account and the possible addition of the amount in the checking account that you used to "verify" your account!

Received that email from PayPal this morning entitled:

Thank you for making PayPal number one!

Well don’t that beat all?!?
…it goes on to repeat the information of their fee structure how it’s better than Bill Point…No doubt but is that saying much!?!

As for other "new" features coming soon...
Whoopee! Don’t need… don’t want… won’t pay! PayPal is pretty much “dead in the water”

Hmm... you know I haven't had a single problem with PayPal. I get quick payments from my buyers which I can transfer free to my bank account.

I'm not using the Business Accounts.. just the free service. So why is it as bad as you all claim it to be?

Actually, labbie1, there may be a little kernel of truth in that "seller protection policy" of theirs. See, when a buyer wants to make a chargeback there's no phone number to call, so they send an email to one of those 350 crackerjack service reps. How many chargebacks surmount these nearly insurmountable hurdles, I wonder?

grizzly, you'll do yourself a favor if you take the time to read the paypal threads here and over on ebay outlook. Things like helping themselves to the money in your (verified) checking account, freezing whole accounts on a whim, minor stuff like that. Guaranteed to make you really grizzly.

fountainhouse I bow to your logic. I stand corrected.
