Whats with yahoo? I just went to list, and now they say I have to have a yahoo wallet or yahoo paydirect in order to LIST. I have been selling on yahoo for some time now, although not often until the past few months. Now I HAVE to have these one of these two things to list as a seller??? Since when?

Doesn't ebay require a credit card to sell?

Yes, but they have had mine all along. All of a sudden, yahoo wants me to give them my card for either paydirect, which I dont want, as I dont take 3rd party payment plans, and Im frowning on a wallet. Call me eccentric, but I never had to have one before at yahoo, and dont want to give one now.

Completely respect that - I was just asking about ebay. Like maybe oldtimers were grandfathered in or something when they introduced the requirement.

Thats what I figured they would have done since I have been a seller there off and on for over a year or so. And, I have sales going on right now at yahoo. Just cant list new ones. Oh well. I'll live.

edited to add that I guess the term WALLET is what bugs me. What if I lose my wallet or someone FINDS it and has access to my card, or my pics and all that other stuff I cram in there? Nope...dont wanna.

Maui - it's even worse.
BIDDERS with pure + feedback signed on to find out they could no longer bid unless they put a credit card online.
As of today - everyone buying or selling on Yahoo has a Y wallet.

Alot of deadbeat bidders out there, but having a credit card on file isnt going to stop them from choosing to NOT pay once they win, if they decide they dont want to. UNLESS they have to pay the fees for backing out. THEN it might put a halt to it. Not holding my breath, though. Alas, yahoo is adios for me. Not selling anything anyway. Only sold 2 things, and the other two was a deadbeat. No loss.

I don't understand why you don't get the wallet and go for the free feature credits you can get from your epay fb's....
I find the wallet and cc is just part of business in this day and age, and am glad that CC is required to bid, sure cuts down on all the deadbeats I used to have.
Now a sale is a SALE !!!
my favorite saying YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Why are we so happy to run up charges on credit cards that charge what---13% interest----19% interest on each transaction. So that whatever you buy and pay with your credit card you never finish paying for due to finance charges . Why are people so stupid???? Adding finance charges to a purchase mean its no bargain. Duh. We don't know how to use cash any more. Please call me old fashioned--- I am I am and proud of it.

susanc, you said, "So that whatever you buy and pay with your credit card you never finish paying for due to finance charges . Why are people so stupid???? Adding finance charges to a purchase mean its no bargain. Duh. We don't know how to use cash any more. Please call me old fashioned--- I am I am and proud of it."

Not EVERYONE who uses credits cards pays finance charges on revolving debt. In fact, about 40% of all credit cardholders PAY THEM OFF IN FULL EVERY MONTH, thereby avoiding finance charges and getting FREE USE of the card-issuing bank's money for up to 30 days.

I have two credit cards with no annual fees that PAY ME a small percentage of my charges (1-2%) in "cashback" every year, and since I pay them off every month, they cost me nothing but checks to pay them (even their payment envelopes are postage-prepaid).

Other credit cards offer free airline tickets and airline mile credits for card purchases, free long-distance minutes, credit toward a new car, etc., etc. Not everything "old fashioned" is the best way to go for everyone.

mauimoods, I don't understand why a seller, who has long-ago given ebay his credit card numbers, would now REFUSE to give them to Yahoo, just because Yahoo didn't REQUIRE them until now....ESPECIALLY since Yahoo is giving Wallet credits for ebay or Amazon feedback numbers. Just exactly what is Yahoo going to do with the numbers that ebay isn't???????

Makes no sense to me.

I also just tried to list items on yahoo, and I got that screen telling me that I had to register a credit card with them to list. I had already registered a valid credit card and had been listing on yahoo for the past few week or so. In fact, within the last couple of days I had put on 99 items on yahoo auctions. This morning, I get a screen when I hit the submit item button, to register a credit card. I figure it is probably a glitch or something, so I start to reregister. Then a screen comes up telling me that I have to get a yahoo wallet and sign up with paydirect to list items. No thank you. I then went in and cancelled every one of my auctions. At least on ebay you have a choice if you want to use a payment service.

Why would you complain about having CC verification, therefore omitting most deadbeats? Use a debit card you never use. It is worth it, with featured auctions, which are free if you import your feedback.
Doesn't have to be ebaY, but at least they are allowing this.

I wonder if other sites would even allow this?

In the last 24 hours, I have sold an item off my homepage, where I am moving everything from yahoo to there. The stuff on yahoo has been there for 20 days, no bites. Its a sign!

Going to end the current auctions and move them over there, too!

instead of saying yahoooooooo...can you say mauiwowieeeeeeeeeeee! hehehehe

Anyway...

I went to add an Exchange Path link to my Yahoo auctions today, and received the "register your credit card" page.
I'm going to do it, because I already buy things off of Yahoo using a credit card, but it took me by surprise too, Maui.

No need to use credit cards for purchases no more and pay the high interest a visa or mastercard debit card draws right from your checking account gives you all the same protection of a credit card.

No interest as the money you spend is your inless you go into your LOC or over draft .

and nearly any bank you have checking with will provide you with one.

Just because you REGISTER for PayDirect and open an account doesn't mean you have to ACCEPT PayDirect payments. Just open the account and DON'T ENABLE the PayDirect OPTION on your auction listings (the PayDirect box won't be "checked" on your submission page). You still have a choice about USING the payment service, even after signing up for it.

granee Righto!

It would seem that Yahoo is trying to deal with both the deadbeat bidders AND the deadbeat sellers!

I have a PayDirect account and a wallet. No big deal. When I purchase items, I send a check or use the money I have sitting in my PayDirect account--or my ExchangePath account.

Since there are no fees for Yahoo, I guess I am mystified about the problem with registering a CC.

susanc I understand your problem with the high interest rates, however you will not be paying high interest if you don't request that PayDirect take money from your CC to pay for something, or if you don't feature items after your free feedback dollars are gone. I see no reason to fret over the interest. BTW, have you heard of Cheapskate Monthly Online? I do love that publication! It has really helped us get out of debt!

We have several credit cards (one that I have is just for online use and nothing else) but they are paid off each month within the grace period, so I don't pay interest charges. If your cards don't have a grace period that is interest free, perhaps a new card is in order.

CAgrrl The short answer is that a lady woke up one morning over $100,000 in unsecured debt (doesn't count her house, cars, etc. just Credit Cards) without a job for herself or her husband. They didn't declare bankrupsy, they paid it all off and live debt free. It is very practical and helped us get out of debt and live that way, yet not feel like we are being somehow "left out" or "punished" because of it.

It is found at:

Let me know what you think.

The verification has been so nice for me, and I have no deadbeats at all not. I dont accept online payments, so just dont enable it, and you will be fine. Yahoo is making sure the cards are legit this time.

"Yahoo is making sure the cards are legit this time."

I would have to argue that one after this e-mail I received from them:

Hello,

In answer to your inquiry regarding reversal of Payments:

If a Payment is funded fraudulently, or the funding transaction is
charged
back by the creditcard holder, the Payment would be reversed.

Notification of such a reversal would be sent to the recipient of the
Payment in question.

You may wish to refer to the Yahoo! Paydirect Terms of Service
Agreement for
more information on your responsibilities as a Recipient of a Paydirect
Payment (Sections 12 and 17). A copy of the agreement is available at:
https://paydirect.yahoo.com/PD/ui/pd/help/tos.pd?arthas1=

Thank you,

CIBC National Bank
Paydirect Support

Fraudulent transactions occur when the card is NOT legit.
