I have been selling on Ebay but am going to give Yahoo a shot. Now that I have all those dollars from tranfering feedback in my wallet I was wondering what is the best way to use them?
Do you feature items from beginning, only at end of auction, how much a day, etc.?

Totally depends on the type of item and the category. However, I sell higher priced items, so I always feature for at least the minimum (10 cents per day.) (If nothing else, it resolves the scrambled listing problem.)
A couple of things to keep in mind regarding placement: One is page breaks. If there are more than 50 featured items, being in the top 50 is valuable because they are on the first page.
Second is that the thumbnails of the top 20 items are rotated in the category, so there's also a premium value for being in the top 20.
Then there are more subtle issues like bid increments.
In some instances, I think it's best to do one-day auctions and manage them day-by-day. Just depends on how much money we're talking about.
Overall, I have found Yahoo's featured auctions to be a great deal in comparison to Ebay, even before I got my feedback credits.
I have been looking for a programmer who is interested in developing software for managing Yahoo featured auctions, but no luck yet. Any takers?

Both featureing from the start of the auction and near the end work out ok.
remember for new users and for low feed back users because of the way yahoo handles listings the high feed back sellers alway on top featureing in the last few days is a must or you will get near 0 veiws and bids.
since yahoo has changed the way they list and I been selling there very well to many return buyer my feed back is only showing 28 and I havent had a sale in months.
while sellers with hundereds and thousands of positive and negitive feed back get wild bidding on Items.
paying the feature is a must when you have low or no feed back and depending on how many features in the catagory the high price you bid the better your chaces your item will be seen.
in some features this means you may have to bid up to .75 per day to get on the top 20 list so featureing in your last two or three days is the most economical way to go.
the way yahoo runs now .10 a day will get you featured but in some catagories you will still only be on page 3 or 4 just like listing your website on search engines if you not on the frist 2 pages your chaces of being found drop more then 50%
I personally started to sell on ebay as well as yahoo Not simply because I do better there though selling what I have up for auction is my goal for sure but my main reason is because even though yahoo lets you list free ebay fees work out cheaper then yahoo features and I get more veiws and bids for my .25 for 5 to 10 day then I would get .10 per day in one month on yahoo at this time.
I relize most comeing from ebay to yahoo see the credit for your ebay feed back as free cash many of you have 100s 1000s of feed back but free money or not use it wisely.
check catagories and how many fatured auction before listing check bidding on the items on yahoo you will find the Item count and the features are up on yahoo but for the most part a catagory with 10,000 Items in it that only has 12 or less bids in it isnt a good deal for your money.
