Seems to me- as our generation of sellers die off-- we are the "guinea pigs" experiment for the future seller generations of Yahoo.
As old timers in the auction business- the designer whiz kid theory applies here- since they clearly consider us to be expendable.
Yahoo doesn't think we can figure out what they are up to and they are RIGHT! They are desperately trying to re-invent auction strategies - daily!!! using our listings as experiments.
Is it any wonder we could survive this "demolition derby" of our listings and make any money at all?
Methinks NOT

Same Question!!
What are you talking about??
Our items are selling well, and although we are allowing our auctions to close and we aren't relisting since we close on line selling at this time of year, we are getting more sales now than I actually want.

jwpc Please send me those buyers you don't want! I will gladly take them off your hands so you can have your Christmas break. Actually my sales have picked up a little, but not as busy as I expected it to be. Melanie

OK- what I meant was-----now, it doesn't really cost anything to list, right? Well, this russian roulette type of listing is designed for Yahoo benefit ONLY. We sure aren't doing any better from it. They need time to see how the numbers do -- so here we are offering them all the free statistacal data they need- OUR listings. Some of us will make the grade and the rest--- who cares..
It appears that the chaotic random order of listings is based on the odds of the HOUSE. Whatever fancy analytical s/ware they are using can only deliver one thing---- $$$$ for Yahoo. We are dispensable on an hourly basis - and that is based on the (as they said in a response to another poster) QUALITY of the item, sell through, views and bids. Now, I ask you-- quality??? They are grading our items??
Well so far, that's a crock- since other sellers here with many bids, great quality items, etc have NOT moved up the "white knuckled listing ladder"!
It simply isn't happening...
There are a few posters that still sing the praises of high sales but they are certainly in the minority.
Once they get their statistical data- believe me, they will find a way to totally discourage items (and sellers) who do not either meet their standards OR PRICE value!!
