Only 25 of my shop items appear in my gallery and yet I have well over 40 different items. This isn't because it's only showing items in one category. I've been through them and the gallery is showing a selection of items from different categories (which is great) but only the same set in each listing I look at. So some items come up twice (2 different products that look the same) but others are not there at all.

I foolishly decided to scrap all my shop items and redo them all in the hopes of getting a better spread of items in the gallery. But it hasn't had any effect. (It only occurred to me after I'd done this that I'd pretty much used up my 100 items in the first couple of days by doing this too! Doh!)

So how can I get it to use all my shop items? Or at least all items in a category?

For example item no 7184579202 on ebay.co.uk. It's a jack russell dog in Art > Prints > Contemporary (1980-Now) > Limited Editions. I haven't seen it come up in the gallery anywhere at all including on listings posted in that category. Other listings in this category and in other categories come up but this one doesn't. Neither does 7184579104, a bullmastiff dog and so on. And yet other items like 7352441813 and several others come up in every single listing regardless of the category.

Is this slow updating of data? Or is there something wrong somewhere?

Thanks

Denise

Hello,

In order to optimize page load time for your buyers, the initial set of items buffered and displayed in the Marquee Gallery is limited to 24 per category, shown in closest to close order. This is necessary in enabling the Gallery to load quickly on the auction page so that your buyer won't experience a delay. Your buyers will still be able to browse through all items in each category by using the arrow keys to the left and right of the Marquee display. If you would prefer an interface that will display all items via a page-by-page interface instead of an automatically scrolling marquee, you can switch your Gallery to the "Basic" skin.

Regarding categories, when the gallery is automatically inserted, and either the 'Marquee' or 'Basic' skin is selected, the gallery will detect the category of the item being viewed, and will display other items that you have for sale in the same (or closest-to-similar) category.

Currently, if you prefer to have the gallery open up on "All Categories" (this might be more optimal for sellers with a wide variety of items scattered across different top-level categories) the only way to ensure this happens is to manually insert the gallery code into your listings. To do this, set the Gallery preferences to "Do not automatically insert" and copy/paste the Gallery code that is displayed when you click the "Generate HTML code" link into your item description field. Please be sure to copy all HTML, and be very careful when you insert the code that you don't alter any pre-existing HTML in your listing's description area.

Regards,

Sonya
