Hi, recently acquired a used 3 year old Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista from a friend. Using it because it is a lot faster than my 10 year old Dell with Windows XP.
I have changed/deleted the old owner/user name in this laptop everywhere that I could possibly find. All is changed except in Vendios picture titles when downloading. It is reading as follows:
c:\Users\******\Pictures\2011-11-10.
I have put stars where the old users name shows. I want to change that name to my name, Steve.
Cannot find a place in Vendio to make this change. Would appreciate any help/advice you can give me in this regard. Thank you, Steve

Hello Steve,
The path that you referenced is a location on your computer, which means this change would likely need to be made on your computer. However, I'm not sure exactly where you are seeing this. Could you please be more specific about when exactly you are seeing this path? Also, is this in your online Vendio account, or are you using the Sales Manager Pro software?

Hi Nathan, it shows up in my Vendio Online account when working in the "upload images" site. When I click browse to get a picture the path with the old user name that I showed in my earlier post shows up. Every other place on this computer that had the original users name has changed to my name. This is the only place left that still has it showing up. Would really like to have it show my name instead. Perhaps you can find a work around for me. Thanks, Steve

Hello Steve,
Please note that this isn't coming from Vendio. It is the path that your computer is choosing to default to when you are browsing to select the image files. You would need to change it to the correct path manually. For example, delete everything that comes after this part here:
c:\Users\
Then you should be able to select the correct user that you are using currently -- and hopefully your computer will remember this choice the next time you are browsing to select images.

Hi Nathan, thank you for the input. What exactly do you recommend I put in after the word \Users\. Should it be my name Steve? And where in my computer or Vendio should this be done? Will the picture info automatically enter after that? Not sure what to do here. Please advise further. Thanks again, Steve

Hello Steve,
Unfortunately, it isn't really possible for us to know the answer to that without knowing exactly how your computer is set up and exactly where your images are stored. However, you should also be getting an option to browse for the images (where you can click where you want to go instead of entering in the exact text). Are you not getting that option?

Hi Nathan, my images are first stored on my desktop after I load them from my camera and name them ie: (comfit pot1) etc. I then go to Vendio Upload images and click on Desktop and for each picture I click browse. That gives me a download of the name for that picture. I then click upload at the bottom of the screen and that turns them into pictures which I can now enter into an ebay auction on Vendio. That is how I do all of my pictures. So, I am in fact getting the option you mention but I still cannot change the User name which is what I am trying to do. Steve

Hi Steve,
There is literally nothing you can do from your Vendio account that will change the behavior when you go to a directory like this on your computer from the browse window:
c:\Users\
Try this, just go to your My Computer icon and open it. Next, click to open the C drive icon, then open the 'Users' folder. From here you will see all of the names of the folders in your 'users' directory - which is the name of the user setup when the computer was first launched and they chose a name for themselves for the Windows login screen.
This is then embedded into the Windows directory this way. Even if you go to your Windows Control Panel > users page and click to rename the account your using to something else, the original folder in Windows Explorer will retain it's original name. Theoretically you could manually rename that folder, but im guessing that would break some other things that are setup to know that directory with it's original name.
If you really want to have the directory named the same you would need to go to the Control Panel in Windows and add a new account using the Users controls. Give the new user account administrative access and then start using Windows under this User instead. This will then create all of the user directories in Windows Explorer with that same name. (but again note that changing this name later on in the Windows User control won't change the original directory name/folders that were first created.)

Hi Chris, thank you for the input. I went the Control Panel route and realized that I had already changed my name from the old user to my name. So everywhere on my computer that shows a name Steve comes up except in Vendios uploading images. At this point we have both spent too much time and effort on this. I will just leave it as is. Thank Nathan for me please and again thank you.
Take care and have a Happy Holiday season. It has been a long time since I have written. That means one of two things. I have learned enough that I do not need to bother you guys anymore or that Ebays business is so lousy that I don't have enough sales to have problems with. I think it is the latter of the two. In 12 years on ebay I have never seen it so bad. Same items, same pricing, just hardly any sales. Have even lowered pricing. No one has any money for my type of items which are not really needed unless one is a collector of fine antique pottery and lighting. I used to sell at least 10-15 items per month. Now I am happy if I sell one. Of course my items are not cheap averaging $200.00 to $300.00 but they used to sell very well.Take care, Steve

Hello Steve,
Thanks for the reply and ill be sure to pass along your note to Nathan as well.
I know that you can manually change the name in the control panel by the way. That just doesn't change the internal folder naming that happens in Windows.
That's why I mentioned that if you go directly to that same directory, bypassing Vendio or anything else, you will see that name appear there as well. Creating a new name to use in Windows would be the only way to properly change the name of the folder that was assigned to that original ID when Windows was setup.
