Hello, I am trying to create a custom ebay html template based on one I used on ebay in the past. I have created a few inventory items to test the template with content. The problem I am having is I can not get any of the image tags edited in the custom html editor box like these to show up in the listings

<img src="[IMAGE_URL0]">

This is how the help file for the html editor suggests doing it. Yet no image ever shows up in the listings using this custom layout. I know the above tag is supposed to correspond to the first image uploaded in the create item page. There are 3 images for this sample item and one of the
[IMAGE_URL1][IMAGE_URL2] etc tags show the images. I have tried just inserting these tags without any img src code and no url shows up either. I just uploaded the pics like normal to vendio on the create item page. The other tags like title, description also produce the correct info from the item info.

Yet, when I preview this sample item listing with one of vendios templates, I see the images fine in the various layouts. Are these templates using a different code to paste the item images?

Hello,

I took a look at your account, but noticed that you are not currently subscribed to an Image Hosting plan. In order for the tags to work, you will need to be subscribed to Image Hosting. You may select an Image Hosting plan under "My Vendio" --> "My Account" --> "My Product Plans". Should you continue to have trouble with this after making that change, please let us know the name of one of the items that you are having trouble with, so that we can take a look.

Regards,
Nathan

Ok, I see now that you need an image hosting plan to have images show up outside of your vendio store.

I signed up for a plan and created another item like I did before for both the storefront and ebay at the same time. I attached/uploaded 2 images successfully, but as before using a very simple custom template called "imgtest", an image does not show up when previewing the ad. The simple custom template just has this code"

test<img src="[IMAGE_URL0]">

url 1,2,3 etc does not produce anything either. Only the word test appears. But the vendio created templates work fine and do show the image. Im not sure what else to try, so if you want to look at the item I am having problems with its the first one on my items page, called spx carmelo /750.

Hello,

There are a few things here that you would need to change:

1. Be sure the images are marked as "general available". This may be done by going to "Images" --> "My Images" --> select the images --> click "Mark As" --> select "Mark as General available" and click "OK".

2. The img src part of the tag is already included within the [IMAGE_URL0] tag. So you would just enter:

test[IMAGE_URL0]

Rather than:

test<img src="[IMAGE_URL0]">

3. There is currently a problem previewing items with these tags in Firefox (our engineers are working on correcting the problem). In the meantime, you should be able to preview them correctly using Internet Explorer. Please note that if you have IE8 you will need to run it in IE7 compatibility mode. You may locate instructions for how to do this here:

http://vendio.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/vendio.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=588&p_created=1238535124

Please let us know should you continue to have trouble with this.

Regards,
Nathan

Thanks, firefox 3.5 proved to be the culprit when previewing the listings with images. IE 8 in compatibility mode works.....firefox 3.5 is so good though hope they work it out soon. Won't be that big a deal once I get past the testing phase anyway.

Ok, one more somewhat related question.

Is there a way with html code in custom ebay templates to show a thumbnail of these pics and link to the larger image? The help file, which I am thinking may be a little out of date, suggests

<a href="[IMAGE_URL1]" target="_blank"><img src="[IMAGE_URL1]" border="0" width="200"></a>

But I guess since the image tags now post the images themselves and not the url, that doesn't seem to work.

I see on that on many of the vendio layout pages such a thing is done and smaller images are linked to the larger image on a vendio image hosting page, something like that would be great if I could code it.

Hello,

You will be able to do that shortly because we will be releasing some new tags to support this, where the macro will give you just a plan URL without any formatting at all. This should then allow you to format your HTML around this macro as you see fit without it always forcing addition code with the URL.

We will have to post back to let you know when this is ready to use, as we are close to having this released.

Chris

Yes, if you could let me know when any tags are ready for testing, I'd be happy to do it as I have some decent experience in html design.

Also, I noticed today that image on previews seem to be working on firefox 3.5.
