The last three items that I created and then posted to ebay have shown up on ebay as calculated shipping even though I specified fixed shipping when I created the ad.

Somehow the shipping method in the ebay ad section is getting set to calculated instead of inherit from core. At first I though that I might have done something to change it, but the last item, I previewed immediately before sending it to ebay. When I did the preview it showed fixed shipping. On ebay it showed up as calculated.

Now I go back to the ad and it shows calculated shipping.

Hello John,

Let us know the title or sku of one of the effected items so we can help you troubleshoot this issue further.

Depending on how the item was created, you may have a separate set of shipping details just for use on eBay.
Edit one of the effected items and expand the eBay ad info area - from here click at the bottom to specify different shipping details and verify that the shipping profile set here matches the one you have in your core item details.

Regards,
Chris

One SKU is 1349051648, but I think that I edited it to correct it already.

My point was that I never set the shipping for ebay specifically and somehow it got set to calculated. How would that happen?

In fact, now when I go and look at the ad, I cannot even see the option of setting shipping info within the ebay ad.

Hello,

What did you change if it was already setup the way that you wanted?
Unfortunately with the item currently setup correctly I cannot get back to see how it was previously, but if this is an issue in your account and you run into it again please let us know so we can help you track down any possible causes.

Chris

OK, this just happened again. I created a new item. I just clicked the create item link and filled in the form. The SKU of the item is 1248454560648. I selected one of my shipping profiles that uses flat shipping and customized it to the shipping amount that I wanted. I filled in the rest of the info for the item and the ebay ad. I didn't pay attention when I previewed the ebay ad, but when I posted the ad, the shipping was set as calculated.

Hello,

I checked this item, but I am showing that the shipping profile for eBay was set up to be different from the general profile for the item. In order to correct this, please first select the item to edit. Then scroll down to the "eBay Info" section and click the plus sign to expand that section. Scroll down near the bottom of the "eBay Info" section and click the link for "Select different shipping, payment, tax, or policies profiles for this eBay item". Then for the "Shipping Profile" select "Inherit From Core" in the drop-down box, rather than "Calculated".

Regards,
Nathan

I know that. My point is that I did not change the settings in the ebay ad section.

I outlined the steps that I went through to create the item and listing. How did the different shipping for ebay get set?

I just created another new item. As I created the item, the "Select different shipping, payment, tax, or policies profiles for this eBay item" link was not even there. Even when I selected the all-fields version of the form, there was no option to select a different shipping method for ebay. I previewed the ebay listing before saving it and the shipping was fixed. Then I went back and looked again and there was still no link and the shipping is still fixed.

Then I launched an ebay listing from the item and the shipping in the ebay listing is now calculated. Now I go back and look at the item and the "Select different shipping, payment, tax, or policies profiles for this eBay item" link is now there and when I click on it, the shipping is now calculated for the ebay listing.

So it looks like the shipping is getting changed when the listing is launched. The SKU of this item is 1248562233324.

Hello,

Are you creating your items by going to "Items" --> "Create Items", or are you copying an existing item and creating your new item from the copy? Also, which version of the form are you using? The "short", "standard", "custom", or "all fields"?

Regards,
Nathan

I started with the my items list and clicked the new button and then with the item checkbox selected, clicked OK.

I toggled the form version several times. I mostly used custom.

Hello,

The next time that you have created a new item and it is ready to launch, please let us know the SKU. We will then take a look at the item and launch it in order to try and duplicate the problem.

Nathan

Hello,

I checked your account, but I was unable to locate an item with the SKU "026634072824". Are you sure that is the correct SKU for the item?

Nathan

Hello,

I just listed this item, and it listed successfully with fixed shipping (listing 110417966726). When you preview the item, is it showing fixed or calculated shipping? If you save the item, then reopen it and launch, do you still have the same problem?

Also, while I doubt this is the problem, please try clearing your browser cache and see if that makes any difference.

Regards,
Nathan

That item listed correctly and when I preview it it still shows correctly as fixed shipping.

Just to help diagnose the problem, can you tell me what I would have to do if I wanted to specify different shipping profiles for the ebay listing? Right now there is no option on that listing to set a different shipping profile for ebay.

Hello,

That is an option that was available in the past, but is not available for new items currently. We will be adding this option back in the near future, but are making some changes to it so that it will be less confusing. Currently the only way that you should be able to get this option is if you created the item with the option before the option was removed (or if you copy an item that was created before the option was removed).

Please let us know should you locate any additional information that will help us duplicate the problem (for example, does the problem only happen when you launch the item without saving it first?), or if the problem continues to occur.

Regards,
Nathan

It happened again. SKU 1248733652676. Because this has been happening, I was very careful when creating the listing and previewed it several times.

In answer to your question, I have never launched an item without saving it. I always save and then launch by checking the item in the my items list and clicking the send to button, then selecting ebay and leaving the selection box set to current profile and clicking OK. Then I don't change anything on the send to ebay page and just click launch.

I think that the shipping is changing during the send to ebay process, not the saving the item process because this time I was careful to preview one last time before I sent it to ebay and cancelling out rather than saving.

Aside from diagnosing this problem, do you have any suggestions for fixing the ebay listing that has been created with the wrong shipping. It is hard to revise correctly on ebay because the shipping info is in the HTML code in the listing, so I can't just change the shipping in the ebay.
I forgot to try clearing the brower cache. I'll try that before my next item.

Some more info that may be related to this problem:

I created a new item. I did not fill out the package size and weight info. (All the previous items, I filled in the info even if I was using fixed shipping costs).

When I tried to launch the item, the shipping profile shows as calculated even though the item is set up with a fixed profile that has been customized.

When I click on the launch button, I get the following messages:

# The ad "eBay Ad" for SKU "Vendio - 1248793715770" is not ready for eBay - To use calculated shipping in the Shipping Profile, you must specify the shipping weight in the Item Info section.
# The ad "eBay Ad" for SKU "Vendio - 1248793715770" is not ready for eBay - To use calculated shipping in the Shipping Profile, you must specify the depth in the Item Info section.
# The ad "eBay Ad" for SKU "Vendio - 1248793715770" is not ready for eBay - To use calculated shipping in the Shipping Profile, you must specify the height in the Item Info section.
# The ad "eBay Ad" for SKU "Vendio - 1248793715770" is not ready for eBay - To use calculated shipping in the Shipping Profile, you must specify the width in the Item Info section.

Oh and before creating the last item, I cleared the browser cache.

Next I edited the item and saved the customized shipping profile as a new profile. I saved and launched the item and it launched correctly. So it looks like the problem is related to customizing the shipping profile for an item.

So I guess a workaround is to create a shipping profile for every fixed shipping amount used.

Hello,

Please create an item that has the fixed shipping profile (make sure you do not enter the dimensions and weight of the item), but is getting the calculated error when you use the "Send To" button method of launching the listings. Hopefully we will be able to see the problem in that way and have our engineers take a look.

Nathan

Hello,

Thank you! I was able to see the problem and I have escalated it to our engineering group. We will let you know as soon as we hear back from them. In the meantime, I think it is likely you should be able to work around the problem by not using the "Send To" button to launch your listings. Rather, click the title of the item to bring up the "Create Item" page. Then select "Now" for the launch profile at the bottom of the eBay Info section, and save your changes to launch.

Regards,
Nathan

I just had this problem recur. SKU is Vendio - 1247959020750.

I tried to launch by selecting from item list and clicking send to and picking ebay. I noticed in the next screen that the shipping had changed to calculated. So I canceled and went back and edited the listing to do the launch straight from the listing. I chose launch single listing and saved. The listing launched, but the ebay item has calculated shipping rather than fixed.

Hello,

That option that Nathan spoke to you above, where you could specify a different shipping or payment profile specific for just eBay: "Currently the only way that you should be able to get this option is if you created the item with the option before the option was removed (or if you copy an item that was created before the option was removed)."

This is what is happening on this item in question. It was created before we removed that option, or was made by copying an item where that option was still available.

At the bottom of the eBay info section, click the link to select/view a different shipping/payment/tax profile and review what is setup here. Unfortunately this item is currently setup to have a different shipping profile and it is setup on a calculated method. Change it from here prior to relisting the item and you should be able to use the fixed rate you wanted initially. (this is unfortunately why we removed this section for the time being, as it can be problematic. we will offer that ability again, once we find a clearer system to avoid these issues.)

Regards,
Chris
