***UPDATE 3/15/07*** We are currently reviewing every element of the site infrastructure and transaction logs to determine the exact cause of the site slowness and any launch latency yesterday. We are also performing several optimizations starting immediately that should have a positive effect in the near term. We have performed very well in recent listing promotions, so this issue has us surprised, obviously embarrassed, and certainly doubling our efforts to prevent any future occurence to regain the stellar performance you've come to expect.
Due to eBay's $.20 listing promotion, we are experiencing very high traffic and a much larger listing volume than in other recent promotions. This is causing some customers to experience slowness in accessing the site, as well as latency in items launching to eBay. We are doing our best to push listings through as quickly as possible. We do expect that some latency will continue throughout the evening so we would urge you to launch your items as early as possible. As always during listing promotions, it is possible that some items may error with "ambiguous launch" or "verification of launch not received" type errors. We would suggest in these cases that you check eBay to make sure the launch did not occur before attempting to relaunch them. If the errored items did launch, you may import them using the Import tool (if you are using Sales Manager Inventory Edition, the imported items will link back up to the original inventory item and quantities will adjust accordingly.) Thank you for your patience. We will continue to monitor the system throughout the evening to ensure that every measure is taken to optimize performance.
We are currently investigating reports of slowness accessing various areas of the site, including Sales Manager, create listing, and post-sale.
