This is a beautiful 16" Effanbee Bettina doll, marked 1964, that has been stored all these years. I have been going through my dolls and selecting just a few to keep, and am putting the rest up for sale where the will be enjoyed by a doll collector. I've tried to provide photos of her so you can see the excellent condition she is in. My mom always taught me to take care of my toys.
- Shine on her hair is like new
- Eyes open and close
- Arms and legs move
- Believe I found her original dress (photo5)
- I can find no marks on her other than the scuff marks on her shoes
She has been well stored, and is dressed in an outfit my mom made her. Clothes include pajamas, a robe and a little coat that my mom made for her. I have not tried everything on her as I know with dolls of this age, the rubber bands that allow legs and arms to move are typically deteriorating and right now, all is working fine. These clothes were packed with her in the storage tote.
I tried to research this doll to find out her name since I often renamed my dolls, and was not able to find one like her. I would assume that a nearly 50-year-old doll in this condition is relatively rare, yet it's also evidence of Effanbee quality for which the company is known. THANK YOU to the doll collector who shared that she was fairly certain this is Bettina, and that there was a tag my mom had put in the storage tote that said "Betina" would verify this information.
