The year 1999. The Place: Pasadena, California. USA vs. China. USA wins in PKs after regulation play is over with Brianna Scurry having saved one more than China's goalie. This auction is for a unique piece of Women's World Cup memorabilia from the historic 1999 Women's World Cup tournament played here in the United States, featuring U.S. goalie Brianna Scurry. Made of durable canvas, the banner measures 35 inches wide and 8 feet long. The streaking you see is from the camera flash, the banner is in as flown condition with no fading. Due to its size, there just was no good way to get an angle without flash reflection.
We acquired it from the World Cup committee shortly after the World Cup ended as part of a pair of these banners. We could choose the player and we chose Briana Scurry because we're partial to goalies. Scurry was known for her aggressive goalie play, great hands and a talent for being where she needed to be. The photos are of the banner we have had hanging in our basement since they arrived in 1999. The banner you are bidding on has been safely packed in a mailing tube since 1999. The information on the banners when we purchased them was that they hung in Pasadena, but I don't know how the World Cup committee would know which city the banners came from once they all came in. Keep in mind that this banner was actually used before and during the 1999 World Cup tournament. It is in excellent condition made of durable canvas with a hem at both ends for hanging. The front of the banner has Briana Scurry's face and the back has her hands as pictured. The banner you are bidding on is actually in better condition than the one we have had hanging.
For the women's soccer fan or the collector of unusual sports memorabilia, this is a special piece to add to the collection. There were only a few of these banners offered after the World Cup as I recall. FREE U.S. shipping, which includes insurance. I will ship internationally. Due to the mailing tube for shipping this item, it cannot be combined with other items as I do not have a box that will fit the 3-foot length of the package. Normally I do combine shipping for multiple items purchased over a 7-day period.
