Advancing the Science of Sound for 40 Years.
Are you passionate about good sound? We are. With groundbreaking technologies, revolutionary materials and advanced manufacturing techniques, Infinity® loudspeakers have set new standards for performance, simplicity and style for 40 years. Since 1968, when engineers passionate about music founded Infinity in a California garage, its critically acclaimed loudspeakers and design leadership have remained unchallenged. Through the years, state-of-the-art engineering facilities and unmatched resources have allowed Infinity manufacturers to design and develop innovative loudspeakers and loudspeaker technologies that push the limits of accurate sound reproduction. Breakthroughs such as the proprietary Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (CMMD®) technology, Metal Matrix Diaphragm™ (MMD®) design and Maximum Radiating Surface™ (MRS™) drivers are among the best examples of Infinity technologies that critics have roundly acclaimed - and competitors have widely adopted.
And the good work doesn't stop there. The makers of Infinity speakers ensure superior sound by building costly models and conducting unprecedented double-blind listening tests against the competition. A multilevel listening lab and other steps that Infinity takes to guarantee the ultimate listening experience are unprecedented in the industry.

Music and Movies as They Were Meant to Be Heard.
Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (CMMD) Technology
A well-engineered loudspeaker should be like a window into an artist's soul, so that you hear exactly what they intended you to hear without changes or alterations to the sound. Breakthrough CMMD speaker technology does just that with incredibly stiff yet incredibly lightweight materials.
All drivers in the C255ES Surround Effects speaker are made of this incredible CMMD speaker material. Each driver starts with a cone of aluminum that is then sandwiched between ceramic layers, creating a material that is strong enough to hold its shape while still remaining very lightweight. Their light weight makes them extremely faithful in starting and stopping when the signal in your music or movie does. And since it's so strong, a CMMD driver can also reduce distortions caused by bending or flexing of the cone, keeping your music or movie from sounding odd or unnatural. Today, this faithful sound reproduction is just as important for the rear effects speakers as it is for any other speaker in a home theater system. And with low bass extension down to 50Hz along with extended high-frequency response far past 40kHz, the C255ES is the perfect speaker for today's high-definition entertainment experience.
When it comes to comparing CMMD to the materials that the competition uses, it's no contest. The CMMD cone is both stronger and lighter and since it is used for all drivers, unlike the typical loudspeaker, the speaker stays tonally matched. The result? With the Infinity Classis C255ES surround effects speaker music and movies will surround you in realism and with every little detail that the artist intended.

Constant Acoustic Impedance™ Waveguide
Where you sit in a room as you listen to speakers can have just as great an effect on their sound quality as the speakers themselves. To make sure listening to the C255ES is a great experience everywhere in the room, Infinity speakers use a proprietary "waveguide" around the tweeter. This waveguide ensures a wide dispersion of the high frequencies throughout the room while keeping them both accurate and natural-sounding. The result is an enveloping, realistic sound experience throughout the entire room, making the C255ES the perfect surround speaker for a high-performance home theater.
Low-Resonance Enclosures
A poorly designed speaker enclosure can actually resonate and add its own "sound" to your music. That kind of speaker is like a guitar; a guitarist may use multiple guitars because they all resonate differently, each producing its own unique sound. While this variation is important for a classical guitarist, it isn't good for a loudspeaker.
Resonance can really change a speaker's overall tonal balance and alter the sound of the recording that it plays. Infinity has designed the C255ES with pinpoint locations for internal bracing ensuring that its enclosure is so rigid that it does not vibrate or resonate. Bass sounds accurate and resonance free with out overpowering the rest of your speakers.
Infinity has also engineered the C255ES enclosure to be a slim and sleek so it is easy to place on the wall (with the included keyhole bracket) or on an optional stand. This means accurate placement so that the C255ES delivers its incredible sound quality while simply blending into the room's aesthetics.
Unparalled Flexibility

Selectable Configuration
The Infinity C255ES surround effects loudspeaker offers unparalled configuration flexibility and design that sets it a part from any other surround speaker you could choose and its as easy as flicking a switch.
First, the C255ES can be configured as a direct radiating monopole speaker with just one side of its unique design firing into the room…much like a traditional bookshelf speaker would do. This configuration is optimal when listening to music in surround sound as precise placement is very important to the overall effect.
Flip the switch and the C255ES can be configured as a bipole surround effect speaker. Both sides of the C255ES will now send sound into front and back of the room simultaneously, or "in phase". This creates a diffuse surround effect for that location of the C255ES cannot be pinpointed easily. In general, the bipole mode is a good all around choice for both music and movies in surround.

Finally, with one last flip of the switch, the C255ES can now become a dipole speaker. A dipole speaker is often preferred by movie enthusiasts since when it sends sound towards the front and back of the room, it does so "out of phase". This means that while sound is being produced from one side of the C255ES the other side is not and vice versa. This created a very diffuse surround effect immersing you in the middle of your movie
7.1 Home Theater from 5 Speakers
Another amazing advantage to the Infinity Classia C255ES surround effects speaker is its ability to create an advanced, state of the art 7-channel home theater from just 5 speakers. Since both sides of the C255ES can operate independently of each other when removing the gold plated binding straps, it can now product two discrete channel of sound. One side of the speaker can produce sound as your left and right rear speaker and the other side can produce sound as your surround back left and surround back right speaker. Now you can enjoy the best of what a 7.1 home theater delivers without the expense or hassle of finding a spot for seven speakers in your room.
