JAPANESE METALWORK KORO -   CIRCA 1858-1900

A very fine piece of Asian decorative art used as an incense burner of primarily bronze.  The globular body sits on 3 delicate sturdy legs. 
The center of the front is inlaid with a gold flower aind lines of leaves and vines on either side.
At each side is a shishi head which serve as handles.
The cover (a separate piece) has tril-lobe openisngs.for the incense smoke A full-figure shishi (like a foo lion or dog) sits
atop the cove with its paw on a ball.

The piece is 6 inches high and almost 6 inches wide at widest.

It weighs 1 pound 12 ounces
