Following the Civil War, Clay Culhane, an ex-gunfighter turned lawyer, still has one problem following him: U.S. Marshal Gib Scott, who doesn't quite believe that Clay has given up the gun for good. But Culhane tries to settle disputes with the law and not the pistol.
