Antique lithograph print entitled La Republique aux manes de Chalier et Barra. The artwork crated after Claude Louis Desrais, is  French Revolution era print from the late 18th or early 19th C. Allegorical female figure representing the Republic or Reason holding a fasces. She is honoring the buts of two Jacobin martyrs, Joseph Chaleir and Joseph Barra who were celebrated as heroes during the Reign of Terror. This print is an example of revolutionary propaganda, depicting the new Republican ideals and martyrs.  The frame is gold wood measuring 8.5" wide and 11.5" tall. The print is 5.5" wide by 8" tall. The back tag indicates this was purchased in Paris France. Good condition overall for it's age. Frame shows some minor wear, print is well protected under glass with a few age spots upper right hand corner, no rips or tears.
