Lovely painting that seems to be enameled or highly glazed as I cannot feel or see any paintbrush strokes. The artist is Alva Holcombe who typically uses water color as the medium. Multi tiered gold frame is just gorgeous measuring 9.5" by 9.5".  The artwork is small and measures 2.75" by 2.75". Wonderful still life scene of stacked books, French bookend and potted plant with purple buds and green leaves set on table top.  Good condition including frame with the exception of tiny ding  and loss of gold upper right hand outer frame section. No damage to artwork.
