Beautiful Shell Carved Cameo

Pre-1840 Carving, put in this current setting about 1890
Very Good Condition, esp. for its age.
In some lighting situations, it casts a pink glow (we have tried to capture this in one or more of the pictures)

Many famous people have loved cameos. Josephine and Napoleon wore them all the time. Queen Victoria loved them and had many carved for subjects.Throughout the ages they were prized as works of art and very valuable.


Based on the portrait, we were able to determine that it would have been made prior to 1840.

The setting, in front, is four small flowers that hold the cameo in its place.
On the back, you can see that there is a pin, to attach to your clothes, as well as a bale to put a chain, or ribbon, through, to wear as a necklace

No Chain included, but you can find one in our store.

We use actual shipping costs to those in the U.S.A.

We usually ship by USPS, using First Class, Priority, Media Mail, and Express. Once an item is paid for, we try to ship the very next business day, however, we do not ship on weekends. If you pay early enough in the morning, it may go out the same day. If there is a method you prefer, that is not listed, contact us, and we will attempt to ship that method for you.

We DO NOT make money on inflated shipping charges, or handling fees.

We take packages to the post office once a day, in the morning.

If you have paid by midnight PST, your package will go out with the mail. Our post office counter closes at 3:00 PST, so if you want something overnight, you must pay early in the day.

International Customers:

Please note: The Post Office does not allow tracking on First Class International Packages. If you purchase First Class, we cannot insure it, or track it. So, if you do not get your package, we have no recourse, and cannot help you. We understand that this makes postage more expensive, but, we cannot give refunds if we cannot track the package. Postal administrations of several international countries have contacted the United States Postal Service about the declaration of value placed on customs forms. A copy of an email from us acknowledging your return must accompany any returns to us. We travel, so you must get this email to confirm where it will be returned to.  Returned packages received without approval will not be accepted. Sometimes, things happen. Things get broken or lost in shipment. The Post office loses the package. When we photograph our store items, we try to show the items under more than one type of light, especially jewelry, since they will be seen under different lighting situations. This may explain the background differences at times. Color changing stones change color based on the lighting. Office and indoor lighting, as well as outdoor light will change the color of many stones.
