The Duke Blue Devils were making there 7th title game appearance and were playing in front of what was virtually a home crowd, creating very difficult odds for the Arkansas Razorbacks to overcome. However, with strong leadership from Head Coach Nolan Richardson and a Most Outstanding Player performance from Corliss Williamson, the Razorbacks were heavily armed and ready to battle the Blue Devils for their shot at the national title.
