Items for Lovers of Porcelain Bisque ♫ China Painters ♫ Figurine Collectors ♫ Unique Gifts ♫ And More!************************
Up for sale is a quantity of lovely, translucent Porcelain Bisque. What is Porcelain Bisque? Basically, it is unglazed China. One or more layers of glaze is applied to Porcelain Bisque. Fired at high temperatures, the glaze and the Bisque enter a semi molten state and meld together as a very shiny coating on the piece. Bisque on the other hand is not shiny. It can be found in gorgeous, muted shades of satiny white to cream, or colors if a tint has been added.
Handcrafted by my Mother throughout the 1980’s for art and craft shows we did at that time, the many pieces here are exquisite examples of what can be done with this art form. Created by pouring porcelain in a liquid state into a mold, removing the piece from the mold, cleaning, sanding and smoothing the fragile piece, firing in a kiln to approximately 2600 degrees F, then doing another sanding, then polishing the bisque to a smooth, glass like finish. She always attempted to pour the porcelain at just the right consistency for just the right amount of time to obtain a thin walled, yet strong piece. The thinner the piece, the more light can pass through it, creating a vision of translucent beauty. Well done porcelain also emits an almost glass like ring or ’tinkle’ when pieces are gently touched by each other. Many of these pieces do that as well.
The pieces are in excellent, unused condition, having never being displayed or used.
Porcelain Bisque is one of those mediums which can be decorated with China Paints and fired, painted with acrylic paint then spray sealed or it can be left “as is”; beautiful white, exquisitely translucent accent pieces, collectible figurines or ornaments, some of which will become heirloom pieces as time passes.

A grouping of 3 cute as can be baby figurines created in gorgeous white porcelain bisque. This group includes a 3” high porcelain baby shoe, a small, 1-¾” baby shoe and a 3-½” sleeping baby with his rump in the air, so, so cute! There is a ‘fire crack’ in the sleeping baby, not a true crack, but a ½” area where the porcelain separated during the firing process. It’s not the kind of crack that can lengthen as a crack from a hard knock would, but I just want you to be aware of this. See photo.
These pieces would make a perfect gift for a new baby, someone who loves adorable baby figures or be just as well received in your own collection of fine quality porcelain bisque************************
We have the molds from which most of these items were created and also a quantity of unfired porcelain bisque pieces that we will be cataloging in the coming months. If anyone is interested in these items, send me a message and I will keep you informed. Thank you!
