Hand-carved, hand-turned Wood Nutcracker "Cossack" from East Germany

This handsome nutcracker Cossack is hand-carved, painted and riveted.  He is approximately 13.5" tall.

He has wonderfully expressive eyes, riveted buttons on his uniform, and an ample mustache. He is in excellent condition, the varnish is virtually unblemished. When looking at his face, it is clear that he was not machine made, the delicate care the artisan took in carving every detail is apparent. This particular nutcracker has no markings, but was a gift from a relative who lived in the German region that is famous for producing these...the Erzgebirge.
This is a wonderful addition to any collection!
