Sandy Bergeron Biography:
In Sandra Bergeron's paintings, one is invited into her nostalgic, country scenes by a winding path, or an open gate which draws the viewer into the idyllic settings. Her charming old cottages and brightly blooming gardens are richly imaginary. "I paint scenes that I hope people will identify with," says the artist. "Perhaps a memory of something from their past, or someplace they've visited, or simply someplace they'd like to go." Bergeron received several years of formal art training in the east and was greatly influenced by the Old Masters, particularly Rembrandt. Her use of dark backgrounds with illuminated subjects led her to experiment with light and its dramatic effects in her paintings. Bergeron began by painting more contemporary landscapes and was later intrigued to recreate the pastoral scenes inspired by her English and Scottish ancestry.
