• PATTERN:  Commemorative Marriage Plate

• ITEM:  9 3/4" scalloped edge plate

• DISCUSSION:  We are offering in this auction a faience plate with two birds pictured over crossed vines. Above their heads is a halo. This type of plate was generally to commemorate a marriage. The colors are a mustard yellow, almost gold, with a light French blue color. The background is a tan color. Best guess on the age of this plate is mid to late 19th century. Faience, unlike English pottery, is sometimes difficult to date.

• MARK:  None

• CONDITION: The condition is pretty good. There are two little flicks of paint missing at about 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock on the plate. They are about the size of a pencil point. There are some firing marks, crackling. Please see pictures.

• You are bidding on a used, vintage or antique item. Most of our treasures are in excellent condition for their age they should not be confused with new condition unless item is stated to be new. Damage or notable flaws are mentioned in condition above but age appropriate wear should be expected.
