This is the definitive volume on English maritime antiques, The mostly 18th and 19th century pieces show the objects of a period when England ruled the sea. (Wedgwood, Worcester, Liverpool, Staffordshire, Creamware)

• INTRODUCTION: "Britain's maritime heritage and her bond with the sea have, over the centuries, found myriad expression in art and design. The ships and seamen, the great voyages of exploration, the challenge of the elements, the victories, the disasters and the shipwrecks are all represented in various forms of popular art, including items of pottery, silver, glass, furniture, heraldic objects and sailers' handicrafts. From porcelain and gold boxes commemorating Nelson's victory at he Battle of the Nile to furniture fashioned out of ship timbers, and from sailor-made woolwork pictures to yacht club plates by Wedgwood, this book takes us on a dazzling tour of the collections of the National Maritime Museum. These objects - most of which date from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries - and the stories they tell will hold a wide fascination for antique lovers and collectors, maritime and general historians and all those interested in ships and the sea."

I was an avid English pottery collector (and seller), having over 1000 pieces of the maritime pink lustre Sunderland pottery in my collection. I have divested myself of the collection, and I am selling all the reference books I had.
