• DISCUSSION: Hardcover, 282pp. "Mr. Jewitt's work is a perfect encyclopedia of British pottery, and must henceforth take its place as he textbook of Ceramic art in England. So wrote a contemporary critic in the Art Journal in 1878. THis judgement holds good today for, although what he had to say of pre-19th century ware has now been largely superceded and has therefore been omitted from the present edition, the main sections dealing with the 19th century are unrivaled. Jewitt took immense pains to gather a mass of information on the potters of his century and their then contemporary wares, and this is uniquely interesting and helpful to present day collectors. Many f the potters he includes are not recorded elsewhere."

I was an avid English pottery collector (and seller), having over 1000 pieces of the maritime pink lustre Sunderland pottery in my collection. I have divested myself of the collection, and I am selling all the reference books I had.

• CONDITION: The condition is good. Some discoloration on the dust jacket. Please see pictures.

• You are bidding on a used, vintage or antique item. Most of our treasures are in excellent condition for their age they should not be confused with new condition unless item is stated to be new. Damage or notable flaws are mentioned in condition above but age appropriate wear should be expected.
