• DISCUSSION: "The Glamorgan Pottery, a small factory on the banks of the river Tawe in Swansea, was opened in 1814. It operated for only twenty four years, but produced a range and quality of wares which few factories of comparable size were able to match. THe names of Baker, Bevens, and Irwin, the proprietors, appear on many of the beautiful pieces which have survived, the the name of George Haynes, its founder, who made such a success of the pottery venture,, has not hitherto been so well known. This study give George Haynes and the remarkable achievements at 'is' pottery the attention they deserve. Collectors will be delighted by the wealth of illustrations in this volume, many being of previously unrecorded pieces. In researching her material, the author made one outstanding find: w workman's book which is a comprehensive guide to the sizes, and shapes and designs produced at the Glamorgan; it even gives details of kilns used. It was a discovery which informed and enriched this important work - the first volume of reference devoted to the history and the wares of the Glamorgan Pottery."
I was an avid English pottery collector (and seller), having over 1000 pieces of the maritime pink lustre Sunderland pottery in my collection. I have divested myself of the collection, and I am selling all the reference books I had.
