Alger's classic tales of poor boys made good are great motivational stories for boys! In this book, #38 in the Horatio Alger series, Harry Walton decides to enter the Centerville
Gazette as a printer's apprentice, also known as a "printer's devil,"
in his attempt to mirror the life of his hero, Benjamin Franklin, even though he has to take a cut in pay. He sees it
as a favorable investment for the future. Harry works with two other men, John Clapp, a spendthrift, and Mr. Ferguson, a responsible family man. Teaches the value of hard work, responsibility, and deferred gratification.
