You'll want to add this adorable board book to your collection of vintage children's books. It so perfectly captures the joy of childhood in the 1950s. Each 2 page
spread depicts a boy or girl pretending with a pet. They make believe they are siblings, doctors, pirates, attending a ball, and more. So cute and nostalgic!
Book was published by Doeisha of Japan for the Kresge Company. No author or illustrator given. Not dated, but obviously 1950s. This is a large (10 1/4" high) board book with "plasticized cover.
Ex-library book has pocket and a couple of library stamps. Some apparently random letters and numbers written on the first interior page. Otherwise unmarked. Clear tape on outside of spine. Torn spot at the bottom of the spine and adjacent cover section (visible in picture.) This is probably from the removal of the spine label. Heavy soil on cover and some also in the interior of the book.
This is a very rare book. It's a very early example of the board book format. They weren't designed to last, and most of them didn't. You are so lucky to find one here!
