3 paperback textbooks from Macmillan/McGraw Hill for the upper elementary grades.
In The Animal Kingdom your student(s) will learn about the classification of animals, animal body systems, reproduction, growth, and development, and animal roles and environments. Only one page mentions evolution.
The Plant Kingdom covers plant structure, reproduction, and response to the environment.
Forces and Motions covers the basic forces of the physical universe and simple machines.
All 3 have color illustrations on every page. They are designed for use with an activity log, but a notebook would work just as well. Some of the activities include space in the book for recording the observations/results. Includes literature, language arts, health, and music/arts links to make this a true unit study. Also includes numerous demonstrations and experiments for the hands-on learning experience so important to science.
Taken together, these three books could really be a whole year's worth of science for your 4th-8th graders.
These are ex-school books, lightly used and unmarked.
