Island of the Blue Dolphins is the touching tale, based on a true story from the time of the early exploration of California, of a Native American girl who became stranded by herself on an island and lived there alone for almost 20 years. The book is written by Scott O'Dell, who has written many wonderful works of historical fiction, including The King's Fifth, Sing Down the Moon, The Hawk That Dare Not Hunt by Day, and too many others to mention. O'Dell even has an award for historical fiction named after him.  Island of the Blue Dolphins is a story of adventure, survival, and courage, great for boys and girls. It's often assigned in the public schools, and is part of the Sonlight 5 homeschool curriculum. It's perfect for upper elementary students.

In this set, you will get a copy of the novel and a reproducible study guide that includes worksheets for vocabulary, reading comprehension, and literary interpretation. Because it's reproducible, you can use this guide for several students, either at the same time, or in subsequent years. I have multiple copies of the novel, so if you win the auction and want more than one, just let me know and I'll toss them in.

The study guide is a L-I-T guide (Literature In Teaching) published by Educational Impressions, written by Charlotte S. Jaffe and Barbara T. Doherty, and recommended for grades 4 to 9. It has a name written on the title page, but is otherwise clean and unmarked.

The novel is an older copy published by Dell in 1983, but it's been well-cared for, probably never even read. It's clean and crisp, tightly bound, and completely unmarked.
