Comprehensive is the best way to describe this book. If you need to identify that bird at your feeder, it's in here. 289 big glossy pages of bird descriptions, along with a black and white photo of each bird and numerous color plates like the one in the picture. Also has a wheel chart to help narrow  down what bird you might be looking at, a color key (which birds are which colors), a glossary, and an index containing both scientific and common names. The only bird book you'll ever want to use again!

This book was published by Garden City Books in 1932. It is the 2nd edition. It has been dropped, and there was extensive damage to pages 117-136, as well as minor damage to the front endpaper and flyleaf. All the damage has been professionally repaired with acid-free tape. See photo for a sample of the worst damage.
