This is a 2005 Ibanez AR300 guitar that I bought new that year, kept in the case (it came with .011 gauge strings back then) and never even played until October of 2010.  In fact, the plastic protectors covering the pickups, the back electronics plates and the backs of the tuners were just removed at that time.  I only played it a few times after that and back into the case it went, making this as close to new as you can get without paying the significantly high price you'd pay if you could find one of these still unsold or even used and in the exceptional condition this one is.  The original hardshell case, specially made to accommodate only Ibanez double cutaway solid body models of the AR series, is also untouched, has the keys and looks new in every way.  It even features an arched exterior top, and there are five (5) separate latches (one locking) to ensure the top is securely fastened and in no danger of ever popping open.  The photos above will tell the story on both the guitar and the case.

I had a complete setup and inspection performed by Jerry Goodman, owner, proprietor and master guitar technician at Music Workshop, Brownstown, MI (734-479-0840) this last October, thinking I was finally going to get serious about playing a set neck guitar of the scale length these kinds of double cutaways of the LP-style variety come in but I'm more of a Strat-style player, so I feel it's a good time to move this one on to somebody who'd appreciate the kind of craftsmanship in a guitar that only comes along every once in awhile.  It's now outfitted with Classic Ernie Ball "Rock N Roll" Regular Slinky .010 gauge strings that have really never even been played (I take it out once a week and use a Snark tuner, just to keep the neck properly tensioned, but that's it).

Also:  The set neck joint on this one is so smooth, you'll think this is a through-neck guitar,  and with your eyes closed you'll be unable to detect even a ripple of a join joint.  Guitarists in the know believe that this particular Ibanez model is at least the equal of the same body style guitar offered by a certain guitar company with a name that starts with a 'G,' and I can't dispute that, because this guitar is that good.  Specific features and specifications include:

  • AR series set-in neck
  • 3-piece maple neck
  • Mahogany body, with a flamed maple, bookmatched top
  • 22 large frets
  • Bound rosewood finger board
  • Bound headstock with inlaid Ibanez logo and proprietary 'fleur de lis' (not inlaid)
  • BR-EG bridge
  • IBZ Super 58 (H) Neck PU
  • IBZ Super 58 (H) Bridge PU
  • 3-way switch near the upper horn (rhythm, middle, treble)
  • Artist block inlays of uncommon beauty and quality
  • Chrome hardware
  • Extremely attractive opalescent-like tuning machine buttons
  • Sunburst finish of extreme quality.  The flame maple top jumps out beautifully
  • Made in Korea
  • Serial Number:  KR050500300
From Instrument Pro:

One of the first Ibanez original designs, the Ibanez Artist AR300 remains the more comfortable and more affordable alternative to the "other" famous two-humbucker mahogany guitar. Plus this classic Ibanez features superior hardware. Carved flamed maple top, 3-piece maple set neck, Super 58 humbucker pickups, large frets, and Artist block fingerboard inlays.

All 2005 Ibanez AR models have a 55mm thickness body for a beefy, classic mahogany tone.

I have a number of other high-dollar guitars, some from that 'G' company, and this guitar easily keeps pace with many of them, and it totally outpaces anything from the so-called 'budget line' captive company owned by them (hint:  starts with an 'E').  There's just no comparison.  Here are links to a few videos that demonstrate what a stock model with stock IBZ Super 58 pickups, like the ones on this one, is capable of:
