This is an antique art deco type clothing brush. The brush is all natural bristles set into a wooden base. The top cover of the brush is silver and ornate. I have been trying to determine if it is silver or silver plate. This is quite difficult to determine, but there are some areas of wear that expose what may be another dark metal.
The marks are as follows: France, Makers Mark ( can't tell if it is Luieta or Wietia, but something similiar) and then the #3. This item may have been imported into a middle eastern country as there are also arabic letters stamped in front of the work "France". Upon researching the metal purity, French silver companies use the number 3 to designate a pureness of .750. The number three can also designate the thickness of silver plating. So not being an expert I am in a quandry.
The size is 7" long, 1.5" wide and 1.5" high. The brush is very clean and the bristles soft. They don't look used. The silver top has an ornate design running around the top with a smooth long oval in the center. There are tiny striations visible on the top and a bit of wearing on the end. This could be professionally restored by polishing or plating.
Please take a look at my other listing of a slightly larger brush in the same design.
