Two strands of deep red, slightly-graduated garnets alternating with sets of 3 tiny silver beads accented with etched Surin beads make up these stunning earrings. Silver is .925 grade. The beads hang 2 inches from the Sterling silver earring findings. Silversmiths in Surin, northeastern Thailand use simple tools to create distinctive beads from pure silver. The decorative patterns are hand-etched onto the surface of each bead. This painstaking intricate process, from the centuries-old Khmer Angkor kingdom , survives in only one small community.
