After a being the subject of a Slam Bradley missing persons case in a backup feature in Detective Comics #759-762, DC restored Batman’s premiere female nemesis to her own title. Catwoman is more of a street-level character this time around. She wears a practical (tailless) costume with goggles and she involves herself in the defense of underclass citizens that may not always find themselves on the right side of the law. Or as she puts it, "Good people forced into bad situations." This is a description that Catwoman seems anxious to apply to herself as she attempts to sort out her life and the choices she’s made.

Artist Darwyn Cooke’s version of Selina Kyle is closer to one of Will Eisner’s femme fatales than the pneumatic look associated with Jim Balent from the first series.
