Every neighborhood in Chicago tends to have it's dirty little secrets.  Pilsen's just so happens to be very large, very dirty, and not so a secret at all.  The Crawford and Fisk power plants are the two largest sources of particulate-forming air pollution in Chicago and contribute to the area exceeding federal health standards for particle pollution.  The result is that nothing grown in Pilsen's native soil is safe to consume.  That's where raised beds come in!  All Roots and Rays produce is grown in beautiful cedar raised beds full of organic soil and free of pollutants.  These beds are made with love and 6x6" cedar planks with a life expectancy of over 15 years.
