SENGOKU JIEITAI (1979) - REMASTERED
aka: G.I. Samurai - In this Japanese sci-fi adventure, Japanese soldiers are suddenly transported back to the 16th century where they must take on a regiment of angry samurai.
They must fight for their lives while simultaneously trying to understand what has happened to them and while trying to figure out how to return to their own time. The squad leader, Lt. Iba, sees this as the perfect opportunity to realize his dream of becoming the ruler of Japan.
To achieve this, he teams his troops up with those of Kagatori, a samurai daimyo who also aspires to become Shogun. Are either of these power-hungry warriors to be trusted?The fight scenes are extremely well-choreographed.
This film mixes the samurai martial arts genre with a tale of modern weapons against waves of 1000's japanese samurai on horses and on foot. A fantasy film that's great fun to watch. The modern japanese troops end up battling for their lives in the past of feudal Japan.
