Made for TV movie based on the long-running television series. Shogun Yoshimune, being without an heir, is expected to marry and carry on the Tokugawa Dynasty in the proper manner. Being an adventurer, the "Roughneck" Shogun spends much of his time away from Edo Castle as he seeks out corruption, and deals out justice with his superior swordsmanship.
Yoshimune finally meets a woman of high enough rank, a veritable Princess, who has actually been sent as his betrothed. Not wanting to marry a man she never met, she rebels against the orders, as does he. Ironically they meet, not knowing who the other is, and find a genuine attraction, along with the need to join forces against a common enemy.
